Gaslight's
History
|
||||
|
After graduating
from college, Robert McConnell created Gaslight Auto Parts to preserve
Model T and Model A Fords. Bob scoured junkyards in Colorado and in the
Midwest collecting parts for T through early V-8 models. In the early
60's most of the items were inexpensive and readily available, and as
a result he managed to rescue trailers full. He hauled them to Ohio and
stored them wherever he could. His towing vehicle was actually a Model
A coupe. During long trips out west, the distributor would work its way
loose and throw the timing off making frequent stops necessary. That did
not stop the many trips and the adventure of traveling by the Model A.
In 1961, Bob finally
acquired a building
no longer used by a local manufacturing firm in Urbana, Ohio. He set up
the store using the wealth of parts accumulated and became one of the
first mail-order businesses for vintage Ford parts. From those humble
beginnings, we've grown to cover many different parts for the vintage
Ford. We are proud to offer the hobby many items such as steel replacement
fenders and splash aprons. For those of you that have been with us through the years, we sincerely appreciate your support and the interest in the hobby. For the newcomers, we invite you to look and see what we're all about. |
